 11

Our 2015-2016 Basketball season has come to a close, and it was another incredible season!

Our inaugural season of 1st-2nd grade girls was very successful, and came to a close on Saturday, February 6th, with 1st-2nd grade boys wrapping up the following Saturday. We had over 70 players sign up in these two age groups, and we hope these leagues continue to grow!

Our 3rd-4th grade girl’s league concluded its regular season play on February, 8th, with tournament play coming to a close on February 13th. Orange (Coached by Lee Bradley and Kevin Blackwell) took home both the Regular Season and Tournament Championships with an undefeated record. Amber Thompson’s Grey team was the regular season Runner-Up, and earned the title of Tournament Runners-Up as well by making it to the Championship game.

In the 3rd-4th grade boys division, we had seven very competitive teams. Black (Coached by Tamara Black and Mikey Ford) won the title of Regular Season Champions with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. White (Coached by Jammy Edwards) finished the regular season with an 8-2 record and was the Regular Season Runners-Up. However, in the post season tournament Orange (Coached by Chauncey Barber, Jay Harden and Kevin Weiss) and Royal (Coached by Kevin Scruggs and Jeff Edwards) met in the Championship Game. Orange came out on top in a thrilling finale, 27-24, to earn the Tournament Championship, with Royal as the Tournament Runners-Up.

Our 5th-6th grade girl’s league was made up of two teams, coached by John Vining (Royal) and Amber Thompson (Grey). These two teams squared off a number of times over the course of the season with the Grey team earning the Regular Season and Tournament Championship.

The 5th-6th boy’s league was incredibly balanced this season, with seven teams that were all competitive throughout the course of the season. Royal, coached by Eric Waddell, earned the Regular Season Championship with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. Gold, coached by Robert Carter, finished with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses, which earned them the title of Regular Season Runners-Up. In tournament play, Royal followed up their Regular Season title with a Tournament Championship after defeating the Tournament Runners-Up, Carolina Blue (coached by William Suber), in the final game by a score of 39-24.

We would like to thank all of our coaches, parents and supporters for helping to make this basketball season another fantastic experience!!
