Child Support

CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES – Child Support Services works with custodial and non-custodial parents to ensure children receive adequate financial support by locating absent parents, establishing paternity, establishing medical and financial support, modifying and enforcing court-ordered support obligations.

Once court orders have been established, child support payments are receipted at the Centralized Collection Operation. To enforce a court order, a child support agent can initiate legal action against the nonpaying parent, withhold support payments from the nonpaying parents' wages and intercept their tax refunds.

A statewide computer system called the Automated Collection and Tracking System (ACTS) helps the state collect child support, locate absent parents and establish child support orders. This system receives and shares data with more than 30 state, federal and private agencies.

Polk County Child Support Services is administered under contract by Veritas, HHS.
