ASSESSMENT

The tax assessor is required by North Carolina law, known as the Machinery Act, to appraise and assess all property within the County that is subject to taxation. In addition to over 17,000 parcels of real property (land, homes, commercial buildings), the assessor must also value over 500 businesses and mobile homes considered personal property. Our office will send an appraiser to conduct a site visit to ensure county tax records are accurate; however, it is the responsibility of the property owner to report all improvements to the office of the tax administrator.
