Important Voter Information One-Stop Early Voting Begins Thursday, October 23rd and ends on Saturday, November 1st in the Elections Office located on the 2nd floor of the Womack Building. Contact the Polk County Board of Elections for more information at 828-894-8181.

Polling Place Change for Green Creek Residents 
The Polling Place for Green Creek residents, Precinct 9, has changed. The new location is the Green Creek Fire Department, 8645 Hwy 9 South in Green Creek.
HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
Halloween Carnival at the Library!
The Polk County Public Library will host a Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 31 from 3:30-5:30 pm for all ages. The carnival will include games, crafts, fun and food. Renowned storyteller Marilyn McMinn-McCredie will tell ghost stories, too!

Preschool Storytime at Columbus and Saluda Libraries 
The Polk County Public Library offers preschool story times at both the Columbus main library and the Saluda Community Library for children ages 3-5. Story time is at the main library each Tuesday morning at 10:30 am and at the Saluda library on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 10:30.

Teen Book Club

Wednesday, November 19 at 4pm
Teen Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 4pm. For our November book, we’re discussing A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty. We’ll also vote on what book to read in December and one lucky book club member will win a free copy.

Veterans' Day Parade
A Veterans' Day Parade to honor those who have served our country in the Armed Forces will take place Tuesday, November 11 in downtown Columbus. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m., on Mills Street. There will be a short Memorial Service at 11:00 with a wreath-laying ceremony and dove release. Spectators are asked to wear red, white and blue and wave their flags, which will be handed out at the parade. Veterans may wear their uniforms and awards and join their branch of service in the staging area to march in the parade. Bleachers will be available for disabled vets.
